TOWN CLERK/FINANCE OFFICER – The Town of Littleton is accepting applications for the Town Clerk/Finance Officer position.  Responsibilities include, but not limited to, supervising disbursement and accounting of revenues and expenditures for the Town.  In addition, the employee performs the statutory Town Clerk role, attends meetings of the Board of Commissioners to serve as the Town Clerk and to present requested financial reports and information, provides administrative support to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners.  Certified Municipal Clerk and experience in public finance, accounting and recordkeeping activities preferred.  Submit application (available online or at Town Hall) and resume to Town Clerk, P. October Water Bills Estimated

Public NoticeDue to a power outage during the cleanup of Hurricane Florence, out water readings were lost this month. The Town Board voted to estimate the bills as the original readings were not able to be recovered. All water and sewer customers were billed at their average usage.

Termination of State of Emergency

WHEREAS, on September 13, 2018 at 4:00pm, as Mayor of Town of Littleton.

WHEREAS, I have determined that the conditions constituting a state of emergency no longer exist in the Town of Littleton.

NOW THEREFORE, I hereby terminate the above referenced declaration of a state of emergency and all the  restrictions and orders contained therein.

This declaration is effective September 14th, 2018.

Littleton Declares a State of Emergency

DECLARATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Hurricane Florence presents extreme weather conditions; and

WHEREAS, as a result of the above-described disaster, I have determined that there is an imminent threat of, or existing conditions have caused or will cause, widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property, and public safety authorities will be unable to maintain public order or afford adequate protection for lives or property; and

WHEREAS, declaring a State of Emergency and imposing the restrictions and prohibitions herein is necessary to maintain order and protect public health, safety, and welfare, and to secure property.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me as the Mayor of Town of Littleton under Article 1A of Chapter 166A of the North Carolina General Statutes:

Section 1. A State of Emergency is hereby declared within the jurisdiction of the Town of Littleton, NC.

Section 2. The emergency area covered by this state of emergency shall be the Town of Littleton, NC.

Section 3. The following restrictions and prohibitions are imposed:

A. Evacuation: none

B. Curfew: Town of Littleton curfew 9:00pm – 6:00am

C. Restricted Access: none

D. Business Operations: none

E. Alcohol: No Alcohol Sales

F. Dangerous Weapons & Gasoline: none **Revised 9/14/2018 9am**

G. Other: none

Section 4. I hereby order all Littleton law enforcement officers and employees and all other emergency management personnel subject to our control to cooperate in the enforcement and implementation of the provisions of this Declaration, all applicable local ordinances, state and federal laws, and the Littleton Emergency Operations Plan.

Section 5. I hereby order this declaration: (a) to be distributed to the news media and other organizations calculated to bring its contents to the attention of the general public; (b) to be filed with Clerk to the Littleton and (c) to be distributed to others as necessary to ensure proper implementation of this declaration.

Section 6. This declaration shall take effect on September 13, 2018 at 4:00pm and shall remain in effect until modified or rescinded.

  • Closest Emergency Shelter is William R Davie Middle School at 4391 Hwy 158 Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 which will open at 8am Thursday Morning 9/13
  • If you have any non-urgent questions in regards to the Sheriff or County emergency services, please call the Halifax Non-Emergency Phone line at 252-583-2368
  • If a road is blocked by a fallen tree or by live power lines please call 911 as they will have the resources to clear this.

    The average automobile can be swept off the road in 12 inches of moving water, and roads covered by water are prone to collapse. Attempting to drive through water also may stall your engine, with the potential to cause irreparable damage if you try to restart the engine. If you come upon a flooded street, take an alternate route.
